Wilma Jean Bailey's Obituary
Ms. Wilma Jean Bailey, age 78, of Madison, Tennessee passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 10, 2023. She was born on March 26, 1945, in Nashville along with her twin brother (William James) who died after birth, to the late Daniel W and Virginia Ethelene Fisher. She is survived by her daughters Dr Renee Bailey Iacona (Dr Yomi Martins) of Germantown, Maryland, and Melissa Jean Dangerfield (Thomas) of Nashville, Tennessee and her beloved cat, Mimi, who followed Wilma Jean everywhere.
Wilma Jean made friends wherever she went. Before her passing, she lived at Hickory Gardens Assisted Living, where she enjoyed eating breakfast, playing Bingo, hosting watch movie parties in her room, sharing her Graeter’s ice cream and snacks with other residents and staff. Wilma enjoyed traveling with her daughters which included cruises in the Caribbean, slots at casinos, and a trip to Ireland before the COVID pandemic. Some of Wilma Jean’s favorite pastimes included thrift store shopping, garage sales, reading Harlequin romance novels and Search a Word puzzle books. Before her retirement, Wilma Jean worked over 20 years at Park Place Retirement Center in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Rest in peace momma and know that you have had a great impact with your positive light on all who you met.
The family cordially invites relatives and friends to gather and share remembrances of Ms. Bailey on May 15, 2023 from two o’clock in the afternoon until four o’clock in the evening at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road in Nashville. There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service set to commence at four o’clock in the evening immediately following the visitation. A private burial will occur at a later time.
A catered dinner will be provided to all guests immediately following the service at Hickory Gardens Assisted Living, 527 W Old Hickory Boulevard, Madison, Tennessee 37115. Please come and enjoy a meal with the family and residents who were close friends of Wilma Jean.
