Betty Duncan Plummer's Obituary
Betty Duncan Plummer passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025 in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 101 years.
Born January 7, 1924 in Johnston City, Illinois, Betty was the daughter to the late Ruel L. Duncan and Lorene E. Duncan. At the age of six, she and her family moved to Tennessee where she spent her life in Nashville and Franklin. She graduated from East Nashville High School and was a long time member of Eastwood Christian Church. In 1943, Betty married John Cantrell Plummer. They had three sons and were married for 57 years until John’s death in 2000.
Betty’s love and devotion as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend is evidenced by words she wrote not long before her death, “My family and friends were the love of my life”. Her kindness, thoughtfulness, and faith will forever be her legacy as she lovingly touched countless people throughout her life… even up to her last days. She will be deeply missed by all who had the fortune to know her.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband John C. Plummer, son John C. Plummer, Jr., brother Ruel L. Duncan, Jr., and brother John “Jack” L. Duncan. She is survived by son Craig (Joyce) Plummer, son Alan (Cheryl) Plummer, sister Joan Duncan, grandchildren Brian Plummer, Amy (Rob) Hallock, Brandon (Lauren) Plummer, and Brooks (Margaret) Plummer and great-grandchildren Barrett Plummer, Blake (Millie) Hallock, Abby (Seth) Hazelwood, Katie (Mitchell) Heath, Lilly Danko, Eli Danko, Virginia Plummer, and Quinn Plummer.
Her request was that donations be given to a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
A quote from one of Betty’s favorite poems is how she patterned her life:
“A Mother’s love is fashioned,
After God’s enduring love,
It is endless and unfailing,
Like the love of Him above”.
Helen Steiner Rice
