Billy Bushulen's Obituary
Billy Bushulen, 90, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Anna Bushulen, and a brother, George M. Bushulen.
Billy is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Dale W. Bushulen, two children, Gregg Bushulen (Teresa) and Amy Austin (Michael), three grandchildren, Greggory Bushulen (Stephanie), Emma Kate Austin, and Sarah Austin, and one great-grandchild, Greggory S. Bushulen.
Billy’s commitment to ensuring fair and accurate property assessments for veterans exemplified his unwavering sense of duty as he worked for many years. His meticulous work touched countless lives, providing stability and support to those who served our nation.
His military career with the US Army spanned decades, marked by discipline, leadership, and sacrifice. As a Chief Warrant Officer Three, he guided and mentored soldiers, leaving an enduring legacy of honor and camaraderie.
On the field and court, Billy’s passion for sports shone brightly. As a football and basketball official for the NIL Association, his fair judgment and love for the game endeared him to players, coaches, and fans alike. His whistle echoed through stadiums, a symbol of integrity and fair play. He was an avid sports enthusiast cheering on Auburn University, Vanderbilt University, and the Atlanta Braves.
Billy’s involvement in the Edgefield Masonic Lodge and Al Menah Shriner community reflected his commitment to brotherhood and philanthropy. He worked tirelessly to support charitable causes, embodying the spirit of service.
His family was the cornerstone of his life. As a devoted husband, he shared laughter, tears, and dreams with his beloved wife. His children and grandchildren found in him a pillar of strength and wisdom. Friends cherished his companionship, knowing they had a confidant and ally.
The family cordially invites relatives and friends to share memories on Thursday, March 7, 2024, from twelve o’clock noon until the time of the funeral service at two o’clock in the afternoon at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road in Nashville. The committal will immediately follow.
In lieu of customary remembrances the family requests memorial contributions to be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4905 Franklin Pike, Nashville, TN 37220.
