Ms. Carroll was the grandmother I never had. She celebrated my birthday and Christmas and every other imaginable holiday as if I were her own grandchild, and I'm sure I wasn't the only one she did that for. She was such a special spirit, and I know she'll be missed by so, so many. I thank her for teaching me what a family is, that it doesn't have to be about sharing blood or genes at all. I thank her for showing me that love and care have no boundaries.

There are no real words. Carroll was the most incredible woman! She was my inspiration to celebrate with family. She taught me so much about life and treated my daughter, Lee-Anna, as one of her own grandchildren. My sorrow is selfish but the love for Carroll will live through the endless stories and memories we shared in our lives.
