Mr. Claude Reasoner's Obituary
Mr. Claude Reasoner, Age 97 of Hendersonville, Tennessee passed away on the evening of Wednesday June 20th, 2018 at Centennial Hospital in Nashville. Claude is remembered as a true Man’s Man and is survived by his only son Robert E. (Eddie) Reasoner and extended family members Alexandra J. Sheldon and J. Wilson Frazier along with numerous special friends and family all across the World including Australia. He had an extraordinary long life was loved by many touching many lives during his time on earth.
Claude Reasoner was born in Davidson County, Tennessee on February 1, 1921 to Alice Mai Teasley and MR. Reasoner. As a Native of Middle Tennessee, he spent many summers working on the farm with cousins in Robertson County and in his teenage years developed a keen interest in Electricity. In his early 20’s, he met and married Reva Nina Hudgens of Chapmansboro, Tennessee on August 1st, 1942 and worked at the Oak Ridge Complex (Secret City) and the Holston Ordinance in Kingsport, Tennessee just prior to enlistment in the U.S. Armed Forces.
Claude was of the “Greatest Generation” having served in the U.S. Merchant Marine (USNR) and U.S. Navy during World War II. After the War he continued to pursue his trade as an Electrician and was one of the longest members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 429, in Nashville, Tennessee. His accomplishments working with Edenfield Electric were notably The Hyatt Regency – Nashville, DuPont of Old Hickory and The Opryland Hotel Complex. On August 25, 2015 Claude was recognized by the Tennessee Legislature for his Patriotism, Valor and Fidelity and was appointed the distinct honor of “Tennessee Colonel” by Governor Bill Haslam on that date.
In the 1960’s Claude developed an enjoyment of bowling, winning many trophies and spent many weekends with his son fishing, cave exploring and restoring antiques with his brother and was a devoted family man taking incredible care of his wife Reva during her long term illness.
Claude Reasoner is preceded in death by his wife Reva Nina Reasoner, Mother Alice Mai Edwards, Sister Betty (Edwards) Revells of Blakely, GA and brothers Bobby Garnet Edwards of Georgia and Williard (Jack) Edwards of Ashland City, Tennessee. He had a wonderful dry sense of humor and spent his last few years admiring the wildlife and beauty of Old Hickory Lake. After a brief illness with Acute Leukemia, Claude Reasoner passed into the afterlife peaceably surrounded by his son and those who continue to love him dearly. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 25th, 2018 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with Funeral Services conducted on Tuesday, June 26th, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Bishop Frederick Barr presiding with music by Marilyn Y. Manka and Eddie Reasoner. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow in The Historic Spring Hill Cemetery
