David Earl Gibson, 74, of Joelton, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, November 22, 2021. Born February 25, 1947, in Pennington Gap, Virginia, he was the son of the late Robert Gibson and Margaret Baumgardner Gibson
Mr. Gibson served his country proudly in the United States Army. He was formerly a journeyman butcher and head butcher and later became a trucker, traveling the country with his wife at his side. He enjoyed the outdoors, whether he was fishing or shooting guns with his grandchildren. He was also an avid HAM radio operator who went by “Mad Butcher”, “Butcher”, or “Dave”. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be missed dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Helen and brother Ernie Lee.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara Gibson; daughters Katina (Donald) Wilcox, Angela (Ronald) Willis, Vicki Nash, and Malinda (George) Burnett; son Roy Alan (Vicki) Short; sisters Brenda Christian, Barbara (Charles) Ashwood, and Linda (Butch) Jackson; grandchildren Courtney Sprinkles, Jordan Sprinkles, DeAndrea Hutton, Marissa Garcia, Thalia Garcia, Jeremy Bluhm, Kyrstin Dorsey, Amanda Brown, Derek Brown, Tony Short, Tiffany Brickert, Tarry Pine, Nicole Patterson, and Jonathon Nash; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 26, from 10 AM until 12 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will follow at 12 PM. Entombment will occur in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery Serenity Chapel Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Bluhm, Cody Patterson, George Burnett, Ronald Willis, Donald Wilcox, and Larry Neely.
