Just shocked to see this. So sad of the loss of a masterful, gentle, talented, gifted man. Polly, my heart goes out to you in your loss. What a wonderful man who was so interesting and unique.

Polly, I am so sorry for your loss. David was a wonderful man and such a talented one. I remember that the first time that I saw him he was installing a zipper in the wall at the Madison Art Center. His personality was so vibrant and he never saw a stranger. He will be sorely missed by his many friends and all his family.

My husband and I have known David and Polly for about 30 years. David's humorous quips would keep us laughing. One favorite was, "That blows my mind!", among others. His writings were very good. The stories involved his childhood, and he regaled us with his effortless story-telling. He and I shared a common interest in different mediums of artistry, and we talked about it now and then. His skill with rifle engraving was another great talent of his. David was also active in church youth. He went with our church group one year on a spelunking adventure, My husband, son, and others in our church group had a great time with David along. He, Polly, and my husband and I also loved to go on different trips and always had a wonderful time. We will miss David so very much. He was a great guy, a wonderful friend, and a loyal servant of his Lord and Savior. Heaven is richer with his presence.

David was a great friend who will be missed. We had several common interests..music, (organs and pianos), antique clocks and guns and lots of other things. He always kept me up on things at the University of Indiana organ dept. As organist for First Baptist for 2 1/2 years I always came early on Sundays to practice. After my practice time, and before the time I was to meet with the music director and pianist I had about an hour of downtime. It was during this time every Sunday, usually from around 8 to 9 o'clock that David and I would sit or stand in the lobby of the church and discuss organs and music and history...and everyday happenings in life. We saw eye to eye on most things and always enjoyed each others company. Lots of jokes and tall stories were told and some were even believed. :) We had many long chats and sometimes, if almost no one was around he would go over to the Steinway grand in the lobby and play me his version of some tune from long ago. I have always considered David and Sue to have been very fortunate to have a father like Dr. George Scutt. David took on the cloak of his father's warm, quiet demeanor and treated all with love and respect.
