David Ronald Scutt, 78, husband of Pauline “Polly” (Dunn) Scutt. Married 59 years, a loving, devoted partnership. Born a Stoney, with journey beginnings, Bloomington, IN. Artist, oil painter, rifle maker, hand engraver, musician, friend. Resident of Hendersonville, TN, and a farm at Whitleyville, Clay County, TN. Juvenile years at Huntingburg, Martinsville, New Castle, Indiana. Son of Dr. George Scutt, Jr, and Iva Mae (Roberts) Scutt, both of Bloomington, IN. Many happy memories of grandfather George Augusta Scutt, and grandmother Anna (Blick) Scutt, Bloomington, and cabin river life at Point Commerce, Worthington (Indiana), Eel and East Fork White River. Longtime believer in the Holy Writ, member of First Baptist Nashville, and Campground United Methodist Church, Clay County, TN. “We cannot live for ourselves alone. Our lives are connected by a thousand invisible threads, and along these sympathetic fibers, our actions run as causes, and return to us as results.” Herman Melville. Momento mori.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister Janet Sue (Horace) Harper; niece, Christy (Brandon) Brown; nephews, Mike Pleasant, George Eric Harper, Philip Hooper, and Barry Hooper.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2019, from 6-8 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will take place Thursday at 10 AM at the funeral home with family receiving friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
