Donnetta Lynn Shepard's Obituary
Donnetta Lynn Shepard, 80, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024. She was born July 17, 1944, in Overton County, Tennessee, one of 14 children of Sanford and Sarah Bell Lynn.
She is preceded in death by parents, Sanford Lynn and Sarah Bell Clark Lynn, siblings, Aaron Lynn, Ace Lynn, Alvin Lynn, Jimmy Lynn, Roy Lynn, Ray Lynn, and Diana Lynn (infant).
Those left behind to cherish her memory are children Bradley (Michelle) Shepard and Deanna Shepard, grandchildren, Megan (Emory) Williams and Camryn Shepard, great grandson, Carter Williams, sisters, Dorothy Shepard, Phyllis Lynn, Brenda Joyce Mitchell, Linda Law, and brother, Davie Lynn.
Donnetta was known by many names; Aunt Donnie, Nurse Donnetta, Mom, and Granny. A caregiver all her life, Donnetta worked professionally as a nurse for over 30 years. She attained Licensed Practical Nurse accreditation in the mid 1970s. Over the course of her nursing career, she worked at Baptist Hospital, Miller Medical Clinic, and Vanderbilt Hospital. She retired from nursing in the early 2000s to take up her most cherish role as Granny.
Donnetta was a long-time member of Hillhurst Baptist Church and Parkway Baptist Church. Donnetta served in several important roles while a member at Hillhurst. She taught Sunday School classes, worked with the youth group, and served with the Women’s Missionary Union. Donnetta shared her faith with those around her and helped shape their walk of faith by her example.
She will be forever remembered as a loving mother, aunt, and Granny, a faithful friend and neighbor, and a tireless caregiver and support for those she loved.
