Earl Ray Allen, age 73, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019 in Nashville, Tennessee. Ray was born on August 6, 1946 in Nashville to the late Earl and Ruth (Burroughs) Allen.
Ray was active in the National Guard for seven years. He served the city of Nashville as a Metro Law Enforcement Officer for twenty years. He had a passion for photography, after his retirement from the police department, he started Southern Exposure Photography. He enjoyed anything to do with the outdoors, especially fishing. Ray can be remembered by his family and friends as a man that enjoyed helping people. During the last several years, his family was his life, especially his grandsons. He enjoyed spending as much time with them as he could – whether it was fishing, going to ballgames or just enjoying their stories. He was a member of the Dalewood Baptist Church and cherished the life that he had been blessed with.
Ray is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Judy (Twilley) Allen; son and daughter-in-law, Jason Allen and Rachel; grandchildren, Jaxon, Maddox and Phoenix; brother, Roy Allen. Ray is also survived by a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 from 12 noon until the time of the celebration of life service at 2 pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home with Jay Watson officiating. Interment will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include; Jason Rowell, Eddie Anstey, Will Benz, Phillip Duncan, Jason Hitchcock, Ryan McDonald, Chris Smith, Jeremy Miller and Brent Hendrickson.
