George Leamon Andrews Jr passed away at Aviva Maybelle Carter on Oct 12th at the age of 92. He was preceded in death by his parents George Leamon Andrews, Sr and Nancy Ruth Andrews.
Leamon is survived by his wife Marianna of 72 years. They were married in Nashville, TN on Feb. 10, 1951. He is also survived by his sister, Marian Watts, and his three children: Rhonda (Ken) Bernhardt, Susan (Steve) Moreland, and Barry (Teresa) Andrews.
Leamon is lovingly remembered by his seven grandchildren (David, Matthew, Rita, Nathan, Michelle, Nicole, Brianna) and 18 great grandchildren.
Leamon was born in Maury County, TN on Nov. 9, 1930. He graduated high school from David Lipscomb then served in the army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean war. After serving he graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from Tennessee Tech at Cookeville TN. During his career Leamon worked as a safety engineer, computer sales representative, business owner, and Director of Tennessee811 center. Leamon was a part time preacher for many years working with churches in the middle TN area. Later he served as an elder for the Church of Christ at Broadmoor in Nashville until his health declined.
Leamon’s love for singing remained strong until his death, he led singing at church for many years. He was an avid DIY’er using his skills to serve and help others as well as building and maintaining a number of properties throughout his life. Later in life he and his wife demonstrated a love for travel, it didn’t matter where, they just loved to visit new places and see new things. Leamon’s gentleness and kindness is remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery (5110 Gallatin Pike S, Nashville, TN 37216), on Oct. 23rd at 10-12:00 PM. The memorial service will also be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home on Oct. 23rd at 12:00 PM.
