Mr. George M. Young, Jr.'s Obituary
George M. Young, Jr., age 72 of Nashville, left this earthly life for his heavenly home on August 26, 2015. George was born on October 12, 1942 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late George and Eleanor Young. George was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend to many.
Faith was very important to George, but he spoke little about it. His faith to the Lord was something he showed through actions, not words. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, his words held great meaning.
George and his brother John were very close. Many was the time George and John would go fishing on Percy Priest Lake. Fishing was one of George’s favorite hobbies. He was also an accomplished gardener and grew both vegetables and flowers.
George’s greatest loves were his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He doted on those kids, and they will miss him terribly.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his brother, John Young.
George is survived by his sisters, Shirley Wakefield (Pete) and Judi Algood (Ray); and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom loved him dearly.
George’s family will receive friends and visitors on Sunday, August 30, 2015 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Additional visitation will take place Monday, August 31, 2015 from 10:00am until 12:00pm. Funeral services will commence immediately following Monday’s visitation. Interment will be in the Veterans II Garden of Historic Spring Hill Cemetery, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
