Mrs. Helen Case King 's Obituary
Helen King, 88 years old, of Nashville, TN, passed away peacefully at her home on October 17, 2016. Preceded in death by her parents, Samuel A. Case and Bertha (Certain) Case, and her husband of 50 years Sam King, she is survived by her daughter, Suzanne King (Nashville); and her son, Tommy King (San Francisco); 2 grandchildren, Mary East (AL) and Tom King (MN); and 3 great-grandsons, Brad, Dylan, and Liam.
Helen was born and raised in Huntsville, AL. After her graduation fron Rison High School, She traveled to Nashville to attend Nashville Business College. After graduating there, she moved back to Huntsville where she worked as a secretary for Lowenstein Mills. There she met and married Sam King. They transferred first to Rome, GA, and later Gaffney, SC, where she continued as secretary in the company. In 1960, the family moved to Whites Creek, TN, where she was employed by Kimbrough Phillips as a bookkeeper. She remained in that position through six different owners including; Commerce Union, Sovran, and Nations Bank from which she retired in 1992.
A kind-hearted, generous Woman with a great sense of humor, she loved to laugh. She always had a smile on her face. She loved to read and work both jig-saw and crossword, she also loved to travel.
A woman of strong faith, she led by example. She was a long-time member of Third Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and also edited and printed bulletins each week. Later, she joined First Baptist Church in Madison.
She loved her family, her friends and all of God’s creatures. Helen was truly a precious gem and will be missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of life Funeral service will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville, TN. Celebration will take place on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 10am with Dr. Jack Carter and Joe Morgan officiating. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 4- 8pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Burial will be in Huntsville, AL.
