Jean Ann Whitley Scalf, born September 10, 1931, passed away on October 7, 2014. Mrs. Scalf was preceded in death by her mother, Robbie Whitley and father, Maddux Whitley. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Charle Read Obituary
Mrs. Scalf was the role model for a lot of girls at Maplewood in the 60's. I was in her business classes and I always paid attention to her dress. She was always dressed professional and ready for the office. I was sad we have lost this lady. The word lady describes her to the degree. My sympathy goes out to her family.

I was in Mrs. Scalf's typing class for two years, and she was the kindest, sweetest soul. She was an excellent teacher; and because she expected the best for each of her students, we wanted to do our best to please her. I know Heaven's gates opened wide for her and she heard the words "Well done, thy good and faithful servant." My prayers are with your family, and I am thankful and blessed to have known Mrs. Scalf.
I was in her Shorthand and Typing classes at Maplewood. Her capable instruction set me on a productive career path to a successful adult life. May your happy memories be a comfort to your family now and in the future.

I was one of her students at Maplewood. She encouraged me to take a job interview as I was graduating in 1970 and recently retired after 43 years of service. Thank you Mrs. Scalf for the wonderful teacher and mentor you were to me and so many others.
I had the privilege of serving with Jean on the faculty at Maplewood High School. She cared about her students and wanted them to excel. Jean and Pete were always so kind to me and my family. May Pete and her family feel God's loving arms protecting and comforting them in the days to come.
Mrs. Scaife was one of my teachers at Maplewood. She was very kind to me and got me an interview for my first office job when I was a senior. I'll never forget the things she taught me and I actually excelled in her business classes.
