Mrs. Jean W. Scalf's Obituary
Jean Ann Whitley Scalf, born September 10, 1931, passed away on October 7, 2014.
Mrs. Scalf was preceded in death by her mother, Robbie Whitley and father, Maddux Whitley. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Charles “Pete” Scalf; cousins, Jane Marshall; Molly, Jeff, and Bob Edwards; Brian and Andy Marshall, and their families.
Mrs. Scalf was a graduate of Gordonsville High School and George Peabody College. She was retired from the Metropolitan Nashville Board of Education, having taught at Maplewood and Whites Creek High Schools. She was also a member of Andrew Price Memorial United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends and visitors on Friday, October 10, 2014, from 3:00pm until 5:00pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Additional visitation will take place on Saturday, October 11th from 12:00pm until the time of service. Reverend Bill Mooney will lead a Celebration of Life Service to honor Mrs. Scalf on Saturday, October 11, 2014, at 1:00pm from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home. Pallbearers will include : Jeff Edwards, Bob Edwards, Brian Marshall, Andy Marshall, G.M. Knott, Jerry McCord, Nick Sullivan, and Phillip Burgess. Honorary pallbearers will include the Sharer’s Class, Andrew Price, and Percy Young.
The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to Avalon Hospice and Provisional Living.
