He was always on the look out for ways to broaden his knowledge and increase his value to the Air Force. At one point he had a short in the wiring system of one of our diesel engine's protective circuits caused by two generators to start and stop simultaneously when either of the engine's control switches was engaged . Due to his familiarity with the equipment, he provided invaluable assistance in isolating the problem thus minimizing troubleshooting time and allowing to be completed quickly. He had frequently demonstrated the ability to make judgments even when there was only a few seconds to make a correct decision. On one occasion an engine rocker arm assembly became out of adjustment on the line unit. Airman Davis ' response to this emergency appeared instinctive and rapid action to place another unit on line and remove the malfunctioning unit prevented any adverse effect on mission communications and extensive damage to the equipment.
B. Self improvement: Amn Davis maintained a high degree of proficiency by a program of study involving the Air Force regulations, manuals, and technical orders pertinent to his job. He continually sought information regarding his AFSC and the knowledge he had gained through those efforts had greatly enhanced this detachment's effectiveness. Amn Davis had completed an eight volume Career Development Course in only four months. As soon as he was upgraded to the five skill level, he planned to enroll in college level video cassette courses offered through the Hellenikon Education Office.
C. Spokesperson: Amn Davis was an exceptionally well mannered person who expressed himself with a high degree of confidence. He was a very exuberant young airman whose drive and espirit-de-corps made him a valuable member of the Air Force team. His mission oriented approach to his duties and his efforts to improve his own performance had a significant impact on the attitudes and performance of his peers. The bearing and behavior he displayed daily reflected pride in himself, his job, and the uniform he wore. He was a likeable individual who promoted harmony within the unit and was highly regarded by everyone. Amn Davis was completely trustworthy and his moral character was beyond reproach.
D. Other Accomplishments: Since he was relatively new to the Air Force most of Amn Davis' time was spent training however, he also gave freely of his off-duty time to improve our personnel's living environment. As Assistant Dormitory Chief he excelled in every respect. He assures that the dormitory was completely stocked with supplies and effectively coordinated all maintenance problems with the Boeing contractor personnel. His success in those areas was evidenced by the many compliments that the dormitory received from our guests who were here frequently on TDY. Also, as site athletic coordinator, he was responsible or many morale building activities such as basketball games and often organized game tournaments in the sites recreation center. His efforts in those areas have had a marked impact on the way in which our personnel accept duty at this remote location. Arthur W. Hanley, 1LT, USAF
