Mr. John Daniel Davis' Obituary
Mr. John Daniel Davis, age 52 of Nashville, passed away on November 19, 2015. John was born in Nashville, Tennessee on May 11, 1963 to Randolph Davis and Elsie Jones (Bobby). He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.
John had a strong moral compass and a well-defined sense of justice. It was important to him that people were treated with fairness and kindness. He was a helper and a giver. If someone needed a meal or some work done on their car, John was there. His love for his family was fierce and unwavering, and he instilled in his children a sense of pride and appreciation for hard work.
John was always experimenting in the kitchen, and his kitchen often extended outdoors to the grill, the smoker, or the turkey fryer. His family recalls one Thanksgiving where their meal was severely delayed because he fried at least twenty turkeys that day for friends and family. John’s servant heart and culinary talents were always coming together; he consistently shared his passion for cooking by preparing meals for others. He always found an opportunity to combine all of his passions together – music, cooking, friends, and family.
John loved blues music, and at times, the entire neighborhood could either hear him playing guitar or his favorite playlist. He also loved the Chicago Bears – a lifelong fan.
John is survived by his wife of nearly 34 years, Evelyn Montgomery Davis; children, Ashonti Davis, Johnathan Davis (Sheneka), and Larisha Sade Davis; granddaughters, Alexandria and Kelsey Davis; brother, Timothy W. Davis, Sr. (Michelle); three nephews, Timothy Davis, Jr., Charles Davis, and Jesse Parker; one niece, Randi Doris; as well a host of relatives and friends, all of whom he loved dearly.
John Daniel Davis will be laid to rest with Military Honors on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 12:00pm in the Garden of Prophets at Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
