"Matty" was a cherished golfing buddy of my father and literally played a part in saving my father's life. When playing at Two Rivers Golf Course, my father told Joe "I'm gone,"
slumped over the golf cart, and passed out with cardiac arrest. Although surrounding golfers said lay him down, Joe immediately drove my father to the club house without hesitation where he received CPR and defibulator help before hospital transport.
My father went on to play many more years of golf with his dear friend Joe. As a teacher, I remember that he always supported me and asked about my classes.
I loved to hear him speak Slovik and relay beautiful stories from his childhood. Joe was truly a stellar gentleman, a man of faith, and a cherished friend. Our family loved him and will always carry him close to our hearts!
