Mom, in 1948 shortly after World War II, you married your husband and my father, Jean Brice. You met him in Germany while he was serving as a Belgian cook for the American army that was near your home. You married shortly thereafter and he brought you to Musson, Belgium, his home. The following year, July 16, 1949, I, your first child was born. Thanks to you mom, I learned to speak German in my early years; while you and I were learning Dad's native language, French.
In 1962, (I am now 13 years old, and your family had already moved to America) Dad brought us to visit your family in Iowa. We stayed for 12 months. Those were the greatest times, including, all of us learning to speak English. Our visa expired a year later, so we went back to Belgium.
You and dad worked hard and sacrificed a lot for us to come back permanently to the US to be near your family a year or so later. Once in the US, Dad studied hard and became an Electrician. You sacrificed and worked several different jobs so we could buy our first home, which I will never forget, 1105 N. Lincoln, Davenport, Iowa.
Thanks to your support, Mom, I was able to not only graduate from high school but continued and graduated from Saint Ambrose University.
Dad passed away July 16, 1980. You were so young and so strong and I am so proud of your commitment to him all of these years. Mom, I would like to thank you for being there for me throughout the years. It has been a long journey and I am so thankful for all of the memories. You and Dad will forever be in my heart.
I know now, that you and Dad have been rejoined together. I now have two angels in heaven looking over me.
Your loving son,
Daniel Emile Brice
