Lance will always be one of my heroes.....When I began the Flatt and Scruggs Preservation Society in 1998 to preserve their music, Lance was willing to meet and share some history of the group with me. Our meetings grew into a lifelong friendship. I would travel from Birmingham Alabama to his home and spend the weekend with him and his lovely wife. We would stay up late listening to old records and laugh and talk about the pioneering days of bluegrass and country music. I remember that Lance wanted a Martha White Coffee Can so I found one and gave it to him. He was so thrilled!
Lance was a very humble, loving and caring individual who had a tremendous impact on my life. I am sorry I did not know about his passing until recently or I would have surely been at the funeral. Please convey my prayers to his wife, Lanny and all the family. If I can ever do anything for any of them please don't hesitate to contact me.
