Mr. Lance LeRoy's Obituary
Mr. Lance LeRoy, age 85, passed away December 17, 2015. He will be sadly missed by his family and the Bluegrass Community.
Preceded in death by his parents; brother, David and sister, Dorothy. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Myrtle M. LeRoy; son and daughter-in-law Lanny and Melanie LeRoy; grandchildren Blake Lansing LeRoy and Christa Marie Johnson (Jason) and great-granddaughter Riley Anne Johnson.
Lance was widely known throughout the bluegrass community. He owned and operated the first all bluegrass booking agency known as the Lancer Agency. He was the personal manager and agent for Lester Flatt. He was the booking agent for many well-known and respected artists such as The Osborne Brothers, Jimmy Martin, Del McCoury, The Bluegrass Cardinals, The Johnson Mountain Boys, Mike Snider, Rhonda Vincent, The New Coon Creek Girls, and many other bluegrass artists.
He was the founder of the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) and inducted into the Bluegrass Hall of Fame in 2000.
In addition to his career in bluegrass, Lance was a journalist and photographer. He had written several articles under the name, Brett F. Devan.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Monday, December 21, 2015, 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home with Eddie Stubbs officiating.
Visitation with the family will be Sunday 4:00-8:00 p.m. and Monday 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, Tennessee 37216
