Mr. Leonard Vernon Wilson's Obituary
Leonard “Vernon” Wilson, Age 91, of Hermitage, TN died on October 7, 2020 surrounded by family. He was born on March 11, 1929 the son of David and Ella Lee Wilson both of whom preceded him in death.
Vernon was a very intelligent man and was blessed with having a sound mind in his later years. He attended East Nashville High School and joined the United States Navy immediately following to proudly serve his country. Following his service in the Navy Vernon worked for 30 years for the Southern Pacific Railroad. Vernon lived in San Francisco and other parts of California from 1948 until 1985 when he made his way back to Tennessee. Vernon loved to stay active, he enjoyed playing golf and going to the movies and dinner with family. He was a very social man and always immaculately dressed. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
He is survived by his sister Lucille Vaughn (Bobby Joe); granddaughter Diana Holt; great-grandchildren Daisy, Matthew, Jeremy, Peyton. Vernon is also survived by his stepson Denny Holt and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years Clara Jean Wilson, (she was the love of his life); grandson Jack Holt Jr.; brothers MI Wilson, Raymond Wilson, JB Wilson, Paul Lee Wilson and Lonnie Edward Wilson.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery at 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN 37216 from 1-3PM. Funeral service will be held immediately following at 3 PM in the Spring Hill Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will take place on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at 2:45 PM in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery with Naval Military Honors being accorded.
