Loretta and Dawson have known me my whole life. They are in our family village and I am so hurt and pained by her passing. She and Dawson were beloved by my parents and they were thick as thieves, travel buddies, road warriors, and Spades playing, loud laughing, in good times and in bad times—the best of friends! All of my wonderful childhood memories included Loretta and the family. She was always there, always supportive and ever faithful. She traveled extensively. She came with my mom to my first Tuskegee University homecoming when I was a freshman, we took great trips to the Bahamas and she and Dawson made the trip to see my cousin Cheri Beasley become the first African American woman to serve as Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court, just to name a few. Loretta has ALWAYS been there. Dawson and Loretta were so supportive when my parents passed away. James and Joyce LOVED Dawson and Loretta and Dawson and Loretta LOVED James and Joyce!
James, Joyce and Lou have saved you a seat at heaven’s spades table! Loretta, step in and run a BOSTON on ‘um!!
