Louis and I were friends from the time we met at Litton Jr. High School and on through Litton Sr. High where we played football together. Louis was always very calm. I don't recall an instance when he 'lost his cool'. He was a leader 'not by what he said' but 'by what he did'.
When we were about 14 or so, Louis changed my life one night by what he said to me. I had bragged about something I had done that was wrong. Louis quietly said to me, "Jerry, you know that's not right." Those were the 'right words at the right time' and I took heed. I did a 180 and determined that beginning then I would always attempt to 'do the right thing'. His words got me back on the right track and I attempted to always stay on that track. Much later in life, I learned that The Holy Spirit had given Louis those words to speak to me.
I heaven, "the first shall be last and the last shall be first". I'll be near the last in line but I'll be seeing Louis up near the front.
May God (Father, Son & Spirit) comfort all who knew and loved this humble man.
Shalom, Jerry Morris
