It was such a privilege to attend Maurice's graveside service today. Several years ago I had the privilege of overseeing an honor given Maurice here at Nashville First Church of the Nazarene on a Sunday morning, for his decades of teaching and service to the church. The stories told were precious of so many lives he and Sue influenced. In the years just past, every visit I had with Maurice he'd ask "so what's going on at First Church" - and I would fill him in - to which he replied every time: "Oh, I so wish I could be there to be a part of it." He encouraged me every time we talked, and I left with a new nugget of truth he shared with me that day. What a life. What a legacy. God bless the memory of Maurice Griggs. A pillar of our church has entered the Heavenly Kingdom! Pastor Kevin M. Ulmet, Nashville First Church of the Nazarene
Maurice hired me February 5th 1985 to work with him at F & N Promotions. He asked me if I could work a couple of hours that day, then he asked me to work the test of the day and I worked with Maurice until he retired. Maurice hired me in the part of the year that was the absolute worst time for making trophies. He was a very wise individual who easily gave of his knowledge and love, and for that I am eternally grateful.
Through Maurice I was Blessed to meet Sue and witness the love they shared with each other and with others. Maurice and Sue treated me like a part of the family.
My life has been greatly enriched by the love and friendship of Maurice.
I am so sorry I can not be with the family today, I have had a family emergency in Georgia.
Sue, Bill, Becky I am so sorry for your loss.
Love you all, Diane Duke
Starting in 1979 I worked with Maurice & his son Bill at Taylor Impression., Inc. for three years. Maurice taught me a lot about business, how to treat other people with respect, and to make friends with everyone from the loading dock to the corner office.
My condolences to the family for the loss of a very unique individual.
When I was a young man, still in my 20’s I attended a church where a couple had started a singles ministry led by Maurice E. Griggs and his wife Sue.
For some reason Maurice befriended me and treated me like a son. I will forever remember him and the wise counsel and guidance he provided this young man.
May God bless his memory and my condolences to the family.

When we were transferred to Nashville in 1981 from Baltimore, we visited First Church our first Sunday in town. We were taken to Maurice and Sue's SS class and enjoyed every Sunday with them. We loved them and knew they prayed often for our family. We have missed seeing their beautiful smiles. The world is a better place because of him!
