I was saddened to learn of the passing of Mel. I met him in the 1960s through our mutual friend, Tom Ragland. He was such a professional, well-before the term, "hair stylist" was very much used. He was extremely hard working and never ceased trying to do his best for all of his clients. He was also very kind to everyone. I remember when my father was dying of cancer and my mother was staying with him at St. Thomas Hospital. He made arrangements for me to bring her to his salon and he did her hair. Through him I also met "Ms. Julia" and that was always a special treat. My sympathy to the family!
