Ms. Nancy Jane Snapp's Obituary
Donelson - Nancy Jane Snapp, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2020. She was preceded in death by her father William Boyd Snapp and mother Mary Katherine Snapp. Nancy is survived by her sister Betty Snapp Uhles (Roger), nephew William Uhles (Jennifer); great nieces Katherine, Anna, great nephew Alexander, great great nephew Rhett; and nephew Michael Uhles (Mary) great nephew Jackson and great niece Grace; cousins Nat Thomas and Tom Torbett.
Nancy was born on May 3, 1937 in Bristol, Tennessee. She graduated from Donelson High School in 1955. In 1959, Nancy graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor’s degree in English. She later received her Master’s degree from Peabody College. Nancy loved children and teaching them. She taught in the Nashville public school system for thirty years teaching third grade at Kirkpatrick elementary and Warner elementary. Nancy was honored with the Teacher of the Year Award in 1985.
From college throughout adulthood to retirement Nancy participated in her community. At Vanderbilt University she was a member of the Chi Omega fraternal organization. Later she was a charter member and past officer of Beta Upsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International, an honorary fraternity of key women educators; a member and Past President 2002-2004 of the Stones River Woman's Club of the General Federation of Women's Clubs International; and a member and past treasurer of the French Lick Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters if the American Revolution.
Nancy was a member of Andrew Price United Methodist Church and was a member of the choir for many years. As a member of the “Afternoon Bridge Ladies Group” Nancy spent many happy times playing bridge and frequently hosted the group in her home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Delta Kappa Gamma International, the Stones River Woman's Club or the French Lick Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters if the American Revolution.
Please be in prayer on Monday, April 6 as a private graveside service will be conducted for Nancy at the historic Springhill Cemetery. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Springhill Cemetery is located at 5110 Gallatin Rd, Nashville TN 37216.
