Aunt Nell passed away on 27 March 2021 at 87. Her father was George Floyd (Doug) Rodgers and her mother was Gertrude Pauline Chandler Rodgers. Her sisters Shelby Jean and Loyse are the youngest and oldest still living of the eight children. My brother Michael Dewey Gray and I, Stanley Douglas Gray were fortunate to have lived with each one except Ralph, he passed at age 1. Nell was very compassionate to me and Mike. She treated us like one of her kids. I remember the first house on Avondale Circle we had to use rain barrel water. Bathing 6 kids was a challenge. We all had to use the same bath water and Avonda and Susanne got to go first. Ugh! It was pretty funky by our turn. Hehe!
Nell was wonderful to us. We shared a lot of Christmases and she put up with a lot from us kids. I feel like we were more like brothers and sisters than cousins. I am very thankful to have had her in my life. I'm terribly sorry to have to lose her and Rogers. Not a day goes by that I don't think of Rogers and I often think of Rube. I will miss you dearly Aunt Nell.❤️
