Ms. Nellie May Roden's Obituary
Nellie May Roden, 87, of Madison, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021. Born November 6, 1933 in Hohenwald, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Douglas Rodgers and Gertrude Warren Rodgers.
Nellie was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother who will be missed dearly. Her family will remember her for being a talented artist, writer and storyteller. They will cherish the crafts, sculptures, and stories that she leaves behind. Nellie was a longtime employee for Hydrosport where she was an embroiderer. She attended Shelby Avenue Baptist Church and sang in The Servant’s Quartet southern gospel group.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Melvin Roden; son Rogers Roden; grandson Brandon Roden; siblings Walker, Anna Ruth, Pearl and Louise.
She is survived by her daughters Avonda (Garry) Vaughan, and Suszanne (Ricky) Walker; son Bob (Tammy) Roden; grandchildren Chris Vaughan, Tim (Stephanie) Vaughan, Patrick Roden, Ashley (Steven) Camp, Rachael (Jeff) Quinn, Matt (Lily) Roden, and Melissa Baggett; great grandchildren Grace, Faith, Shannon, Anna, Jayden, Nathaniel, Bailee, Ashton, Trenton, Katlynn, Camila, Tanner, and Emily; sisters Lois and Jean.
Visitation will be Monday, April 5, 2021 from 12 PM until 2 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM with Pastor Clay Faircloth officiating. Burial will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
