Mr. Richard Keith Childers' Obituary
Richard Childers, 71, of Hendersonville, TN passed away September 2, 2023.
He was born August 20, 1952 in Dallas, Texas to Robert Henry (RH) Childers and Gwendolyn Bernace Hoops Childers.
He is preceded in death by both parents and sister, Ryan Carmella Childers.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Barbara Lisa Childers, son Samuel Zachary Childers (Bryan, Texas), two daughters, Rachel Marie Childers (Hendersonville, Tennessee) and Brandie Elizabeth Childers (White House, Tennessee).
He is also survived by brother, Russell (Cherri) Childers (Hot Springs Village, Arkansas) granddaughter, Sydney Elizabeth Owens (Hendersonville, Tennessee) and grandson Riker Sterling James Childers (Bryan, Texas).
Richard was a 1970 graduate of Mesquite High School (Mesquite, Texas) and 1972 graduate of Eastfield College, (Dallas, Texas).
He began his construction career at 16 working with his father at Barnes Lumber, Dallas TX. After graduation, he worked for several firms pursuing home design and engineering. He moved to Tennessee in 1986 to further his engineering and design career with Phillips Builders which became Beazer Homes. He met Lisa on Pearl Harbor Day, 1986 and they were together from that day forward. He retired from Beazer Homes after 24 years in 2010 when they closed their Nashville division. He has spent his time since taking care of his family, including teaching Sydney her first driving lessons. His favorite activity was walking a white sandy beach enjoying the ocean and looking for shells.
He took such good care of his mom, Gwen, when she moved to Hendersonville at age 90. He was an incredible son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He is loved by so many and will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center or a charity close to your heart.
The family of Richard Childers, invites friends and relatives to join them in a time of visitation on the evening of Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Spring Hill Funeral Home from 4pm-8pm. There will be a Graveside Service at 11am the following day, Friday, September 8, 2023 in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 10am-10:45am prior to everyone walking together to the gravesite.
