Richard Gonzalez's Obituary
Mr. Richard Gonzalez, a beloved husband, father, and community leader, passed away on May 17th, 2024, in Gallatin, Tennessee. Born on December 13th, 1951, in El Paso, Texas, he was the son of Abel Gonzalez and Evangelina Soriano.
Richard’s life was marked by service, dedication, and love. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1970-1974, where he exemplified honor and commitment. As a 4th degree Knight of Columbus, he held a special place within the organization, serving as the captain of their honor guard. His unwavering faith and devotion to his community were evident in all he did.
Richard’s heart belonged to his wife, Soledad, with whom he shared 46 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they explored the world, embarking on countless adventures. From the numerous countries of Europe to the sun-kissed shores of Puerto Rico, they reveled in the joy of discovery. Cruises became their preferred mode of travel, allowing them to witness the grandeur of Alaska and the charm of New England.
Richard and his family resided in Decatur, Alabama, for 25 years before making Hendersonville their permanent home. The memories they created, the friendships forged, and the love shared within those walls will forever echo through the halls of their hearts.
Beyond his service and travels, Richard found solace on the tennis court. For many years, he wielded a racket with finesse, competing with passion and grace. Tennis was more than a sport—it was a way of life, a rhythm that echoed through his days.
Richard dedicated 34 years of his life to ensuring the safety of others. As a safety supervisor for the United States government, he tirelessly worked to protect and educate. His impact extended beyond the workplace, leaving a lasting impression on those he mentored and guided.
Richard Gonzalez leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and unwavering love. His memory will live on in the stories told, the laughter shared, and the lives he touched. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love that defined his remarkable journey.
In addition to his parents Abel and Evangelina, Richard is preceded in death by his sisters Susan and Evelina. He is survived by his loving wife Soledad Escobar Gonzalez; sons Steven Andrew Gonzalez (Ariel) and Richard Anthony Gonzalez (Kimberly); grandchildren Michael Alexander Gonzalez and Sophia Adelynn Gonzalez; siblings Jerry (Bertha), Frank (Jean), Irene, Luis, Freddie, and Daniel (Irma); and a host of extended family and dear friends.
