Ricky Allen Smallwood's Obituary
Ricky Allen Smallwood, 67, of Nashville, Tennessee, died on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. Born August 11, 1955, in Nashville, he was the son of the late Frank Allen Smallwood and Gloria Ann Steakley Smallwood.
Ricky was a longtime employee for Ambrose Printing where he was a pressman. He also worked for Courier Express and Zip Express. Mr. Smallwood was a man of strong faith. He attended Donelson First Church and Lakewood Baptist Church. He also enjoyed driving a bus for Room in the Inn downtown, helping Nashville’s homeless access food and showers. Ricky was an accomplished carpenter and made many items for his family, friends and church. He crafted everything from bookcases to knives. He also enjoyed tending to his garden and was a proud member of the National Rifle Association.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandchild Levi Alexander Jones.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Brenda Smallwood; daughter Angela Jones; son Derrick (Lindsey) Smallwood; sister Sharon Kay Johnson; brother Frankie Lee Smallwood; grandchildren Caleb Allen Jones, Joshua Andrew Jones, Gabriel Ayden Jones, Liliana Grace Smallwood, and Darrius Alijah Smallwood; nieces Melody Dawn John and Christen Danielle Johnson; great nephews Bryson Nathaniel Johnson and Braylen Edward Johnson.
Visitation will be Friday, March 17th at Spring Hill Funeral Home from 4 pm until 8 pm. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be conducted by Pastor Bruce Cullom on Saturday at 10 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
