Robert Joseph "Joe" Geist's Obituary
Robert Joseph “Joe” Geist, 82, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. Born June 18, 1940, in Nashville, he was the son of the late John Joseph Geist, Jr. and Catherine Mary Baltz Geist.
Joe was a ‘jack of all trades’. He was a creative plumber, woodworker and blacksmith who loved making things. He was the owner and operator of Geist Machine Shop. He served his country proudly in the Army Reserves. Mr. Geist was the Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 251. He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Sister Janet Marie, John and George.
He is survived by his wife Julie Geist; children Robbie (Jennifer) Geist, Mindy (Marcus) Mayer, Susie (Dan) Wittig, Tommy (Adrienne) Geist, and Amy (Matt) Strickland; sisters Teresa, Dot, Rita and Rosemary; grandchildren Amelia, Jordan, Matthew, Caitlyn, Abby, Lauren, Miles, Lilly, Grey, Rilla, Luke, Knox, Joseph, Caroline, and Thomas; his loyal 4 legged companion ‘Cookie’; and many MANY nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 pm until 8 pm on Monday, January 9, at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. A Rosary service will take place at 7 pm. A Celebration of Life Service officiated by Deacon Ted Welsh will be held on Tuesday, January 10, at 11 am at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Madison. The family will welcome friends and visitors one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Nashville.
