Mr. Ronald" Ron" Keith Burnett's Obituary
Ronald Keith Burnett, age 69, of Nashville, Tennessee, went to his Heavenly Home on Friday, May 19, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. Ron was known for his devotion to his wife, family, and friends. Ron’s firm faith in God both strengthened him and inspired others for the duration of his cancer fight.
Ron was born on January 28, 1948 in Nashville, Tennessee. He was a graduate of Maplewood High School where he was well known throughout the city for his skill on the athletic fields, particularly basketball. After graduation, he continued his education at both Vincennes Junior College and Memphis State University on basketball scholarships. Following college he enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served his country. Professionally, Ron spent many years working for Aladdin Industries and Gaylord.
Ron married his best friend and the love of his life, Frankie Shadrick, on August 10, 1974, and their union was blessed with three children, Rhonda, Brian, and Bradley. He was the type of husband and father we all desire. He invested himself into his family by being a provider, faithful husband, coach, fisherman, mentor, and golf partner. He also poured his faith in Christ into others through his many years as Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School volunteer, and Spirit Sunday School Class member.
Ron was known for his love of life, gentle spirit, easygoing nature, and relentlessly positive outlook. He treated all people with kindness and dignity, no matter their position in life.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents Samuel Burnett and Audrey Speakman; stepfather Roy Edwards; and sister Sherry Edwards. He is survived by wife of 42 years Frankie Shadrick Burnett; children Rhonda Knotts (Ray), Brian Burnett, and Bradley Burnett; grandchildren, Johnathan Knotts, Samuel Knotts, Hadley Burnett, Luke Knotts, and Easton Burnett; sister Sandra Ward; and brother Terry Burnett.
Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 from 12-3 pm and 4-7 pm and also Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 12-1. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on May 24th 1 pm. Nashville First Church of the Nazarene (510 Woodland Street) will host the visitations and service. Pallbearers are the Spirit Sunday School Class and friends. Friends and family members will serve as honorary pallbearers. Burial will be at Spring Hill Cemetery in Nashville.
