Mr Samuel Leftwich's Obituary
Samuel “Sam” Willard Leftwich, age 88, born June 27, 1927, passed away on April 8, 2016. Sam was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Louise Garrett Leftwich; parents, Ernest and Lois Leftwich; brothers, Joe and Ralph Leftwich; sister, Katherine Cavanaugh; and daughter-in-law, Kim Leftwich.
Mr. Leftwich is survived by his brother, Robert Leftwich; children, Nancy (Dean) Cooley and Steve (Denise) Leftwich; grandchildren, Matt (Andi), Mark (Amber), Mitch, Rachel (Richard), Keith, and Alex; great-grandchildren, Aidan, Abel, Oliver, Remie, Willem, Mara, and Eleanor.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 12, from 5-8pm and again on Wednesday from 12-2pm. The funeral services will be on Wednesday, April 13 at 2pm in the chapel of Spring Hill. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Sam grew up in the East Nashville area and was the youngest of five children. He attended Lockland Elementary, East Nashville Jr. High, and Hume Fogg High School. Three years were spent serving in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII with service mainly in Japan and China.
Sam married Dot on November 19, 1949 and this union produced two children, Nancy and Steve. Nashville, TN was their home together for 65 years. He was employed by E.I. Dupont and E.T. Lowe for a while, but retired from Ford Glass Plant after 31 years of service.
17th Ave. Christian Church and Madison Christian Church were the churches in Sam’s life. He and Dot were among the first members of Madison Christian Church when it was formed. He held many positions of service there including Elder. Most of his life- long friends were members of this congregation.

Sam enjoyed Drawing, golfing (Sam shot a hole-in-one in 1997), fishing, scouting, and being actively involved with his children, grandchildren, and church youth. He instilled in those around him a love of God, trust, and friendship, honesty and dependability. His family and friends+ have been blessed by his life.
