Mr. Thomas "Tommy" Quinn's Obituary
Thomas Anthony Quinn, 69, of Nashville, Tennessee, went to meet his Lord and Savior on July 8, 2020 after a brave 6 year battle with cancer.
He was born in Nashville on August 11, 1950 to Margaret Murray Quinn and Anthony Ernest Quinn.
Tommy grew up in Nashville and graduated from Father Ryan High School in 1968. He attended Memphis State University, where he formed many lifelong friendships as an active member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, and later studied and traveled abroad in Europe. After college, Tommy began an extensive career with Brodnax Jewelers in Memphis and Nashville. He continued his career at Crystal’s Fine Gifts and Jewelry in Nashville, where he worked as the store’s manager for more than 20 years.
Photography and art were two of Tommy’s passions. An avid and skilled photographer, Tommy never went anywhere without his camera, and had an eye for capturing beautiful scenery as well as candid shots of friends and loved ones. He was known for assembling his photographs into albums which would become gifts and treasured keepsakes for his many friends and family members. Tommy was a board member of The Arts Place, and had a wide and varied personal collection of artwork which included many signed pieces.
Tommy’s Christian faith was the central focus of his life. He was an active member of Christ Church in Nashville, and was involved with numerous ministries and foundations, including Mercy Multiplied and The Heimerdinger Foundation, which provides free meals to cancer patients. His deep love of God and profound faith touched all who knew him. Most of all, he reveled in the joy of being affectionately known as “Uncle Tommy” to his nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, godchildren and friends, young and old alike. Tommy had a unique gift of genuinely connecting with people – even strangers – and this was a hallmark of his lovingly warm personality. He lived a full life and will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Murray Quinn, Anthony Ernest Quinn, and his sister, Diane Quinn Dickman. He is survived by his brother, Daniel Murray Quinn (Bitsy) of Germantown, TN., his sister, Patricia Halterman, his brother, Kevin Patrick Quinn, and brother- in-law, Jim Dickman, all of Nashville. He also leaves his nieces and nephews: Patrick Quinn of Memphis, TN., Brian Quinn (Millie) of Germantown, TN., Melissa Muraira of Lebanon, TN., Jennifer Halterman, Tim Halterman (Angie), Kevin Anthony Quinn (Sarah), Jessica Pugh (Nick), Chase Quinn, Dylan Quinn, Philip Dickman (Margot), all of Nashville. He also leaves 11 great nieces and nephews and many, many beloved friends near and far.

A Memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held at Tucker's Gap Event Center, 2900 Callis Rd., Lebanon, TN. 37090 on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.
