Mrs. Vivian Rose Bates' Obituary
4/8/1928 - 2/26/2017
Vivian Rose Bates, age 88, of Nashville, TN, departed for Heaven on February 26, 2017. Vivian overcame the loss of her parents during the Great Depression to achieve a 50+ year marriage, to raise 5 children, and to successfully operate with her husband a business, Bates Florist, for roughly 60 years. Every morning, Vivian exited the back door, traversed her back yard and entered the rear entrance of Bates Florist where she used her talents as a florist to help Nashvillians with life’s saddest and happiest occasions. She was a member of Jackson Park Church of Christ and the Riverside Garden Club.
Vivian is preceded in death by her 5 siblings, grandson Nicholas and husband Wilburn Leon Bates, Sr. She is survived and admired by children: Wilburn, Jr., Phil, Mike, Elizabeth and Phyllis; grandchildren: Stacy Faulkner, Jocelyn Bates, Candy Wathen, Amber Reese, Phillip Bates, Chase Himes, Clay Himes, Cameron Himes, Ashley Bates, Elizabeth Teeter; and great-grandchildren: Camille, Carter, Ava, Alivia, Major, and Lathan.
A celebration of life service will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville, TN. Celebration will take place on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 1PM. Visitation with the family will be held the same day from 10-1PM.
