Mr. Wiley Eugene "Gene" Sizemore's Obituary
“Each of us is an artist of our days; the greater our integrity and awareness, the more original and creative our time will become.” ― John O'Donohue, Irish poet and teacher
Gene Sizemore lost his battle with lung cancer and passed away peacefully at home on October 14, 2015 with his family by his side.
Gene had an independent and creative spirit that was guided by an instinctive ability to know the truth and not compromise his integrity, both personally and professionally. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed lively, passionate discussions about art, music, baseball and politics. He was a loyal and loving husband and father.
It has been said that a man’s life can be measured by the positive influence he has on others. Gene had that kind of influence – whether it was the guy everyone wanted to be friends with in high school to the students he taught at the University School of Nashville to the deep and eternal love for his wife and daughter. His positive spirit will remain in our hearts forever.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Louise Sizemore. He is survived by his wife, Kathy “Marie”; and daughter, Samantha (Tomas).
A private cremation ceremony will be held at Spring Hill Cemetery. We will be celebrating Gene’s life on Sunday, October 25, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. at Cummins Station, Track No. 13, 209 10th Avenue South, Nashville, Tennessee. Memorial donations may be made to Alive Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
