Mr. William C. (Bill) Satterfield's Obituary
William C. (Bill) Satterfield, age 70, of Nashville went home to be with the Lord on March 21, 2016. Bill was born in Nashville on July 30, 1945. He was a graduate of East Nashville High School (1963) where he lettered in Football, Basketball and Track. Bill also attended Austin Peay University where he played Basketball and lettered in Track. Bill would go on to receive his B.S. degree in Mass Communications from Middle Tennessee State University. Bill was preceded in death by parents Cliff P. Satterfield, Jr. and Virginia Francis Parsons Satterfield; and Brother Paul Satterfield; and one niece, Elizabeth Satterfield. He is survived by Brother David (wife Martha), Sister Susan Waldron (husband Dan) and several nieces and nephews. In 1967 Bill was drafted into the Army for a two year stint. He was a decorated soldier, receiving two Bronze Stars for his service in the Mekong River Delta. After serving his country Bill returned to Nashville to work in advertising at WKDA and WSM radio. Subsequently he left advertising to complete a degree in Mass Communications at MTSU. In the early 90s Bill moved to Florida’s West Coast where he received his teacher’s certificate for teaching Communications, first at the high school level in Tampa’s High School of Performing Arts and later at the Monroe County High School in T.V. Production. Returning to Nashville, he worked for WZTZ and WKRN as a newsroom producer before retiring. While in the Army, Bill had contracted Malaria and was exposed to Agent Orange. He developed Parkinson’s disease and also suffered from multiple cancers. For the last 10 years of his life Bill developed strong Christian ties. Bill was a wonderful teammate and loyal patriot; he will be sorely missed by family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Thursday, March 31, 2016, 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be Thursday 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN 37216, 615-865-1101.
